  • Someone asked:
How do I know if I have a mold problem?
    • Dratech Services replied:
In most cases, mold produces a musty smell that signals a problem. If seen, mold growth often appears slightly furry, discolored and slimy, particularly as patches of mold increase in size. To locate mold, examine an area for visible signs of growth, water stains, odors, dampness, condensation, and peeling or cracking paint. Wallpaper near a source of moisture (such as a bathroom or kitchen) also provides a perfect site for microbial growth. Essentially, if you see or smell mold, you have a problem. However, sometimes mold can look like dirt or soot, and the source could lie behind or underneath surfaces (such as carpets, cabinets or walls), emphasizing the need for professional evaluation.
  • Someone asked:
    What causes mold?
    • Dratech Services replied:
Mold exists naturally so it can enter a home through open doors, on clothing and shoes, on pets, or even on items brought indoors. However, to grow, it requires a moist environment with high humidity or standing water. To prevent mold and mildew, your indoor relative humidity level should be below 60% (generally between 30-50%). Common causes of excess humidity include water damage, inefficient HVAC systems, roof leaks, foundation cracks, excess crawl space moisture, plumbing leaks, and broken door and window seals.
  • Someone asked:
How soon can water damage lead to mold growth?
    • Dratech Services replied:
If you have water damage, it’s important treat the area within 48 hours to avoid microbial growth. Mold and mildew rely on a source of moisture, so it’s vital to thoroughly dry and treat a damaged area to avert future growth and added expense. Fortunately, Dratech Service has the most advanced equipment to treat water damage so we can restore a property quickly and efficiently.
  • Someone asked:
What are the most common symptoms of mold exposure?
    • Dratech Services replied:
Allergies and tissue irritation are the most common symptoms associated with long-term exposure to mold. Some people can experience:
      • Nasal and sinus congestion
      • Itchy, red and watery eyes
      • Respiratory problems such as wheezing
      • Coughing and throat irritation
      • Skin irritation (such as a rash)
  • Someone asked:
What is mold abatement and remediation?
    • Dratech Services replied:
Mold abatement (also called remediation) is the process of cleaning, destroying and preventing mold and mildew. The most important part of the mold removal process, abatement involves identifying the mold source, containing growth and cleaning all surfaces with an EPA registered antimicrobial solution.
  • Someone asked:
How much does it cost to treat and remove mold and mildew?
    • Dratech Services replied:
Because every condition, structure and type of mold differs, it’s virtually impossible to provide an estimate without a property inspection. If you think you have a possible indoor environmental problem, we’ll be happy to inspect your property and give you an honest, detailed estimate of the overall costs you can expect. We’ll also provide a third-party, accredited lab report to identify the exact type of mold present so we can select the best way to remove it.
  • Someone asked:
    How can I prevent mold?
    • Dratech Services replied:
Mold must have moisture to grow, so make sure your HVAC system, including ductwork is working properly. In addition, windows should be free of condensation and there should be no standing water in crawl spaces or around your foundation. If you notice visible mold, signs of condensation or standing water, a musty smell,.or dampness in your home or office, contact us.
  • Someone asked:
    Can you provide references?
    • Dratech Services replied:
Whether you need residential or commercial mold testing, inspection and remediation, we can provide a list of very satisfied clients. Most importantly, we’ve never had a situation that we couldn’t resolve.
